The Goerdeler Park is part of an inner city green corridor, which extends from the main station (east exit) over the Königsberger Allee to the Kaiserberg and leads over the Grüner Neudorf to the Sportpark Wedau.
In 1955, the expansion of the park, a former villa garden, began. The park is characterized by its valuable, old tree population and by the listed "house Königsberg". Until the move to the new building in Immanuel Kant Park (1964), the Niederrheinische Museum was housed in the neoclassical building on Mülheimer Straße, followed by a temporary memorial to Königsberg.
