The first mention of the Botanical Garden is in 1890 in an administrative report of the city of Duisburg. He was created by the Duisern beautification club as a natural park. Already in the following two years, the area was extended to about two hectares, a water lily basin was built and created an alpine garden. Even today, the emphasis is on the alpinum and the heath garden, the pond with goldfish and water lilies has also been preserved. In addition, there are areas with medicinal and aromatic plants (Apothecary garden), rose beds and a natural garden. You can also find redwoods or ginkgos.
