Due to the large trees, the sections of the Rechenpark Park on the Königsallee look dark and shady. The amazingly dense old beeches are due to the fact that the park originated from a forest in the 1920s. The existing path system in the park was built as part of this transformation. Later, there was the plan to relocate the Bochum Zoo to the Rechenpark, as the zoo proved too small. However, this idea has never been implemented.
Due to the diverse tree population of Rechener Park is more of a small forest area than a park. He has a playground for children. In the middle of summer, the shady park provides the right climate for a quiet walk or bike ride.
