As part of the IBA Emscherpark, the Halke Rheinelbe was developed as a recreational area and is now one of the landmarks of the Ruhr area. It is also part of the Route Industriekultur and represents a Table Mountain with additional heaped, unfounded pointed cone.
In one of the last remaining coal mines in the Rheinelbe forest, the former transformer station, is the largest forestry station in the Ruhr area. On one of the heaps affiliated terrain, the old workshop halls were converted into artist's studios.
