One of the most valuable nature reserves in the distant surroundings of Geel
It is one of the remains of the original low-peat marshes formerly known as the Geels "Gebroekt". It is the paradise of many rare bird species.
Plants and animals are unique
The De Zegge area contains at least 24 species of plants in the flora of Flanders. There are also unique bird species visiting the area. There are water rail, blue heron, killers and kingfisher. There are also a few populations of ring snakes
