Lini realized the harmony between man, art and nature. Included were a variety of plants, the banks of Elbe and the city skyline. The community house designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel was central.
The area of the original 30 hectare park was reduced by occupation of industrial facilities and transport on an area of only 10 hectares. Since 1880 there have been extensive changes in garden design and conversions at Gesellschaftshaus.
In 1895, Hermann Auguste Jack Groson built greenhouses on the site to house his group of endangered alien plants and the largest group of cactus in Europe in one house. After his death in 1896, his widow moved Gruson agricultural greenhouses to the city, which became accessible to the Mugeberger.
It was only in 1921 that the park was renamed "Klosterbergegarten". One year later, the Schinkel Hall in Gesellschaftshaus was redesigned by painter Wilhelm Höpfner and in 1924 the stairs were built from the island pool in Klosterberge Park to the newly created Südbrückenzug of the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke.
Volkspark has been a listed building since the 1970s. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Peter Joseph Lenney (1989), a statue of Lennie Primer was created by Heinrich Appel. Today, the park is once again a jewel in the city because of its love of gardening. Gesellschaftshaus, who has enjoyed full glory since 2005 after reconstruction work, is the Telemann Center. In the beautiful Schinkel Hall there are concerts and concerts.
