    Located in seepark

It was designed as a partnership gift by the Japanese landscape engineer Yoshinori Tokumoto of Matsuyama for the benefit of the people of Freiburg. In the fall of 1989, Yoshinori Tokumoto and three Japanese gardeners, with 10 gardeners from Freiburg, set up this park. The grand opening was held on 5 May 1990.

The large rocks chose the Japanese gardeners in Shaunswald, the gravel comes from the gravel plant on the Rhine, the plants from the city nursery, the Freiburger nurseries and the stone lanterns are the original origins of Japan.

The theme of the park is a watercourse flowing from the source in the high mountains above a waterfall through the vast landscape of the sea (Flückigersee). Typical of Japanese gardens is that these scenes are grouped together on a smaller scale in the appropriate range. The Japanese garden thrives on the forms of stones, plants and aquatic structures. Architectural elements such as the Tea House (in Freiburg Suite) and the entrance gate and stone lanterns increase the tension of different shapes to each other.

In general, the Japanese express a strong connection with nature in his garden. Traditionally, the Japanese garden should be a place of peace and tranquility. The gardeners at the Freiburg Garden Office have learned the gardening work, especially logging, rearing and embroidering, in the gardening work at Yoshinori Tokumoto in Matsuyama.
