The largest zoological garden in Thuringia
The Zoopark also included the Erfurter Aquarium (since 2003), which was located on Nettelbeckufer 28a about four kilometers from the Red Mountain and comprised 228 species. Since 2007, the aquarium had a 50,000 liter reef basin. In March 2017, it was finally closed due to significant structural defects.
