In 1900, the shareholders donated the park to the city of Hagen, presumably because the entry fee was insufficient for maintenance. Since then he has been freely accessible without any admission fees and is an important recreational area between the city center and the Hagener Stadtwald.
To date, the city garden has remained largely unchanged. In the immediate vicinity are the Fichte-Gymnasium, the General Hospital with the kidney and dialysis center and the Bismarckturm on the Goldberg.
