On the square there is a memorial stone for Otto Krafft, who, as city councilor, had the Ahseumlegung and thus also the place named after him.
The relatively steep section between Ostenwall and Ostring was called fleet in the middle of the 20th century; the name probably comes from the fact that it was popular with children and adolescents, down there fast with roller skates.
