After being used by mining, the heap was prepared for recreational use and 500,000 trees and shrubs were planted. The 17 km of trails are deliberately designed with gradients ranging from 4 to 16%, to give athletes varying degrees of difficulty. Nordic walking is promoted by information boards at the car parks, signposted routes and regular running meetings. After the heap has been restructured into a Nordic Walking Park, an obligation for dogs is mandatory. Moreover, entering the heap with bicycles is prohibited since then.
