Pader, Lippe and Almeauen are nestled amidst the beautifully restored historic gardens surrounded by the well-reconstructed river landscape, just before the gates of Paderborn, one of the most beautiful relics of the Weser Renaissance style, Neuhaus Castle. When the emperors bishops once celebrated their wonderful festivals, today's visitors will find attractive landscapes of the park that invite them to relax, enjoy themselves, stroll and abandon them.
In 1994, the landscape of Landesgartenschau, Schloss- und Auenpark today is more than just a garden in the city. With its scenic sights, horticultural themes, adventurous stadiums, historic buildings, parks, museums, galleries and many outdoor events at SchlossSommer, an interesting recreational and entertainment park has emerged in which both nature lovers and art lovers come.
The beauty and diversity of the garden is also reflected in the inclusion of the castle park and floodplains in the European Garden Heritage Network.
Anyone strolling through the magnificent Neuhäuser Schlosspark today or strolling through the re-formed river plains can love to imagine the difficulty of what it was less than 20 years ago.
The Schloss- und Auenpark was designed for Landersgartenschau Paderborn in 1994 by the architect Dipl.-Ing. Christard Ehrig.
