The war memorial in the Husarenwäldchen was created between 1925 and 1931 by the sculptor Fried Heuler and the architect and government architect Franz Kleinsteuber from Muschelkalk. Initially dedicated to All Saints Day in 1931, the stone monument was first used by the National Socialists as a "heroic memorial" and is today regarded as a memorial to fallen soldiers and a memorial to peace. In contrast to many other war memorials that were created during this time, the monument in the Hussar grove presents you neither martial nor heroic - but its mighty dimension radiates a certain majesty.
