The second oldest botanical garden in Germany
It covers an area of 4.5 hectares and is used by the adjoining biological, pharmaceutical and botanical institutes as well as the population for education and recreation.
The Botanical Garden Jena belongs to the Institute of Special Botany of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and shows about 12,000 different plants in several heated greenhouses and open spaces and is available to the public, the university and students of all grades for the lessons.
