A garden open to the public
Created in 1612 at the request of Marie de Medici to accompany the Luxembourg Palace1, it was restored by architect Jean-François-Thérèse Chalgrin under the First Empire and now belongs to the Senate. It covers 23 hectares (21 open to the public) decorated with flower beds and sculptures2. A favorite rendez-vous for Parisians, it also attracts visitors from all over the world.
