It includes a teaching farm, a nature reserve and an Amazonian greenhouse. Property of the city of Montpellier, which finances it entirely, it is co-directed by Luc Gomel and David Gomis.
A permanent member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1997, he is involved in ex situ conservation by participating in European programs for endangered species (EEP).
The free entry of most of the park contributes to make it one of the ten most visited zoos in France, with more than 500 000 annual visitors. It is one of the five largest zoos in France
