This space bears the name of the former President of the French Republic Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970)
Lined with four rows of plane trees since the mid-nineteenth century, the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle, shaded walk, brightened up with cafes and glaciers, is a refreshing and relaxing stop on the edge of the historic center. Its lawns with flowering plantations are decorated with hexagonal basins, rebuilt in 1988 like the original fountains dating from the eighteenth century.
