From a natural point of view, the law is 45% of the area, 5% shrubs, and adds a large presence of trees. Of the 243 trees surveyed, 151 trees were classified as long trees belonging to 47 different species. Among them are the dominant Ulmus glabra, Fraxinus excelsior, Celtis occidentalis and Acer campestre (census data 2007 *).
When walking in the park, you immediately notice the difference in the size of the plants in the central region compared to those in the peripheral areas: in the peripheral areas we find the largest samples such as Cedar deodara, recorded with n. 71, which has a circumference of 3 meters and a half at an altitude of 1.30 meters from the ground, making it the largest tree although it is not the highest in our territory. All of this biodiversity highlights the origins of different areas of the park.
* With the enumeration of trees, trees with a diameter of at least 20 cm at a height of 1.30 meters from the ground were identified and investigated, and species were identified for each. The total number of trees studied in the region (excluding Barco della Chiosa) in 2007 was 3600 trees.
