In 1782 the first botanical garden was founded in Grenoble. He was reinstated in 1842 on land purchased by the City, located between Haxo and Chanrion Streets. With an area of 21,597 m2, the Jardin des Plantes consists of two distinct parts separated by a small stream. Its western part is reminiscent of the structured organization and the geometric aisles of the Jardin à la Française. The eastern part is reminiscent of the romantic 18th century garden. It presents some majestic species of ancient trees and magnificent rock gardens. Further, there is the rose garden, a botanical greenhouse of 300m2 with wonderful exotic plants and a 700m2 winter garden.
