Located below the castle of the Dukes of Savoy, it occupies the site of the former vegetable garden of the castle awarded by the king, in 1845, at the Natural History Society at the same time as the house of the gardener (now Museum) and the large vegetable garden located towards the cure of Maché. A "tactile garden and scents" has been specially designed so that blind people can discover some forty remarkable plants by their touch or by their scent. Chambéry is the first city in Rhône-Alpes to offer such equipment.
