Poppi European Zoo is located in the Casentino Valley, in the north of Apennines, between Tuscany and Romagna. Natural flight enthusiasts, definitely know it very well. It is an area of exceptional importance for plants and animals, which in 1993 also saw the creation of Casentinesi Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park, exactly 20 years after the opening of the first zoo in Fauna, the European Union of Bobby.
Dr. Mattoni's intuition and intellectual honesty for his choice of a 50-hectare green oasis to be put at the disposal of European animals was commendable, especially in reference to the Casentino Valley, a morally "closed valley", located near Italy's major artistic cities such as Florence. Siena, Pisa, Arezzo and Rome, but at the same time surrounded by high mountains that protect it.
