Green areas occupy about 32% of the area of Białystok.
Parks and squares and 1,779 ha of forests located within the city limits create a specific microclimate [1]. Within Białystok there are two nature reserves, with a total area of 105 ha, which are the remains of the Knyszyńska Forest. Within the agglomeration there was also a fragment of the Narew National Park.
