The current cadastral maps refer to the study of the names of historical geographical locations on the main access road to the park: this is the local route of Port S Sofia, which veers north-west around Centeiro del Gafo towards the present-day town of Cassina S Sofia.
In fact, until the mid-19th century there was an important river port in Santa Sofia. However, the city occurs extensively in the history of Pavia, which probably formed the original nucleus. Due to its strategic location, the camp became numerous armies: it is enough to mention the siege of Albueno in 569 and Charlemagne in 773. The origins of the church belong to the Church of Charlemagne.
