It is not known who built it or who sold it or donated it to the Zerbolese community. The name attributed to him can be derived from Canale Venara which runs next to him.
The oldest related document, listed below and kept in the municipal archives, refers to a permit to collect wood. The act is dated in 1873 and signed by the mayor of Zerbolo Bonacusa Francesco at the time.
The document refers to an area called Erbatici which defined the area of Podere della Venara. For more than 100 years, tenants came and went who lived on the farm and planted the neighboring farm with rice and fodder.

Cascina, like the entire municipal area, is located in Lombardy Park in the Ticino Valley. It was introduced in a context of great environmental value, not far from the river and near the Bosco Cerro Negri integrated nature reserve, owned by the University of Pavia.
In a more recent history, until 1998, Cascina Venara hosted Robinson camps, where it welcomed schools and groups of people who used it as a springboard for trekking in the forest and along the Ticino River.
In the following years until 2010, agreements were signed between the municipality of Zerbolò, Ticino Park and environmental associations (LIPU, Olduvai, Legambiente and A Passo d'Ali) which followed each other in the implementation of the project of cloning and releasing the white stork in the wild. Project completed successfully.
