In the village of Madonna delle Grazie, located directly at the mouth of the river, in the Tetto Lupo region, two artificial lakes have been created, forming a wet passage and linking to other larger areas, such as Oasis of Madonnina, which serves as a refuge and support point for many bird specimens and not only.
The ponds, consisting of one, one larger and one smaller, were built by the Irriguo Valle Gesso Consortium, as part of a wider project to rationalize the use of water resources.
The two volcanoes, linked together, occupy an area of about 7.5 hectares and have capacities of 50 to 100,000 cubic meters. They are fed by the discharge of a hydroelectric power plant fed in turn by a forced channel that starts upstream from the village of Spinetta.
