Historian Martin Weibull and the Historical Society of the Skåne Landscape Association, prior to the 200th anniversary of 1876 of the Battle of Lund, initiated a Swedish-Danish collection for a monument. The monument in obelisk form was designed by Helgo Zettervall and inaugurated in 1883. On the monument is the inscription "In 1676 on December 4, people of the same tribe fought and bleed. The reconciled descendants erected the memorial." commemorating the battle between the two closely related peoples. It was originally erected in concrete, but replaced in 1930 with a more durable copy in granite.
