In the park is a statue of Karl XIV Johan which was inaugurated on June 12, 1919. The sculptor was Alfred Ohlson (1868-1940). It was intended that the statue should be erected a year earlier, in 1918, on the 100th anniversary of the accession of Karl XIV Johan, and a contest was announced. Seventeen grants were submitted, and Ohlson's proposals, which were later realized, came in fourth place
