At the northern part of the square there is a semicircular wall with sofas, and from the large urn in the center of the plant flows during the summer half a fountain-like flow of beautiful flowers.

Malmtorget was once a gathering place for the people of Karlstad for various different activities such as military parades and markets. Football, tennis, athletics and curling have been played here for different periods.
