The garden is very natural and dominated by the circular Kangaslampe Pool, which was originally a muddy wetland. More recently, children in the 1960s were warned not to stay away from marshes until they finally became safe. There are many urban myths about men and horses that have sunk in the marshes, as well as about the female “spirit of blessing” that tempts men into the water.
During the last replenishment process, explosives experts were called in from the army to ensure that there were no unexploded ordnance at the bottom of the pond. Locals reported that all ammunition was hidden in the pond at the end of World War II, but only decomposing gunpowder was found.
