Park in the center of the Dutch city of Leiden
In 1874, at the initiative of the 3 October Association, it was decided to erect a statue of Mayor Van der Werff on the Great Ruin. The classicist sculpture stands on a square pedestal in the middle of the park with a mosaic of plants at the base that together represent the Leiden coat of arms. There are also eight yew trees in a lawn planted with crocuses around the statue. These mosaic beds from 1898 were restored in 1986.
