The story begins 83 years ago, when Karl-Heinz Krag, a 20-year-old pet lover, got an ambitious idea. Without more money, he will create a zoo. Great way, they succeed. With the help of friends and family, with great creativity and hard work, on May 25, 1933, Carl Heinz Krag could open doors to an entirely new zoo.
The park was successful from the start with over 100,000 guests in the first year. Due to the eye today, the park was able to offer an impressive array of animals of various types, including brown ground bears and sea eagles. At the time, there were more species than we could show today - in contrast, animals today have much better and larger facilities and conditions that allow them to develop their natural behavior.
