About Park

  • Preview

It is a park in the festival district of Salzburg's old town.

Until the 16th century, there was a large garden with a large garden and botanical beds, called the Women's Garden in Petersfrauen or Frohngarten. He served mainly agricultural purposes and ranged from homes in Getreidegasse and Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse today to Klausentor. Prince Benedictine University was founded in 1622 under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of Paris Graf von Ludron (the human club was already established in 1617) under the supervision of Archbishop of St. Peter.

From 1632 to 1820, the Green Zone was used as a university garden at the University of Benedictines. The collegiate church in Baumgarten was built from 1694 to 1707 according to the plans of Fischer von Erlachs, but the reduced Baumgarten remained after that for a long time. After the college garden was abandoned in 1780, the merchant and botanical collector of Salzburg Franz Anton Ranfftl kept a private botanical garden until 1820 and traded at the seed exchange center.
