It is located in the Pradl district, between Sill and Leipziger Platz apartment buildings. After the old gas stations were abandoned, the park was expanded to the north and formed a continuous green space with the banks of the Seal River and the inn to the northeastern outskirts of the city. Rapoldi Pond is located in the middle of the garden.
The park was named after the Tyrolean politician and journalist Martin Rapoldi (1881-1926). Rapoldi was deputy mayor from 1919 to 1923, and from 1923 a city council member in Innsbruck.
The park still contains the Salig Hans Planger statue, which was designed for the national socialist capital of Gao in 1944, which was completed on behalf of the city administration of Innsbruck in 1953-1954, and it perfectly corresponds to the image of the National Socialist Women.
Rapoldi City Park is located next to the Sillpark Shopping Center and is often mentioned in the media regarding crime, especially drug-related crime and murder of a young woman in 2005. As a result, “Protection Zones” with extended police powers and parts of the park were monitored with video . However, these measures were also not considered appropriate and criticism of the restriction of fundamental rights has been criticized.
In 2018, 72 cameras were installed in the park to increase the personal feeling of safety for park visitors.
