Located in the southeastern corner of the ancient city of Vils, access to the castle and castle park, which has been adapted as a suitable cultural center, can be accessed through three gates, from the town square in the north, and from Adlerstrasse in the east and from Burgas in the west.
The open spaces of the former imperial castle consist of a castle courtyard and garden that has a narrow high terrace on the east wall.
The national peculiarity of the garden lies in its space-like design, determined by the impressive splendid numbers of old town houses on the east and north sides.
The organization of tracks and parks has changed several times over the past 100 years. The track axis with the fountain has been divided into four lawns since 1983. This design is due to the stressful development of the park from the town square. The statues placed in the meadows come from the Baroque Eisenfeld palace near Wels, which was demolished in 1966.
