The entrance is through a showy portico, topped by a cascade of three bodies in the background, with the two lateral bodies of stonework decorated with tile panels, representing, on the left side, Sara and Agar no Deserto and on the right side, the Prophet Elisha casting salt in the waters of Jericho; the central body has a niche with the figure of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. The Garden is crossed by small paths that cross the tangle of trees culminating in a large circular lake. At the top of the apparatus staircase is the Fonte da Nogueira, in which stands out a representative statue of a newt opening its mouth to a dolphin from which the water gushes into a shell. It is this artistic ensemble that is at the origin of the popular designation of Jardim da Sereia.
