The park in order to preserve the landscapes of the eroding banks, the Vilna Valley, its natural ecosystem and cultural heritage values.
The park contains the following reserves: Ancucian Landscape Reserve, Antakalnis Landscape Reserve, Belmont Botanical and Animal Reserve, Simplified Landscape Reserve, Geomorphological Plains Reserve, Markucas Landscape Reserve, Pūčkoriai Landscape Reserve, Ribiškės Reserve, Ribiškės Reserve as well as Mountain Nature Reserve .
