A rich history
Antoniadis Park is one of the oldest parks not only in Egypt but also in the world. Some historians refer to the history of the park to the Ptolemaic period in Egypt. During the Khedive Ismail period, expansions of the park were extended to an area of 50 acres and rare plants were added to it. The garden was given to one of the wealthy Greek Baron John Antoniades in 1860, which was named after the gardens. After his death, his son Antony executed his father's will to give the palace and gardens to Alexandria Municipality in 1918.
