In 1955, due to a decision of the city council of Leipzig, the already existing parks Johannapark, Scheibenholzpark, König-Albert-Park and Palmengarten were combined and named "Kulturpark Clara Zetkin". In addition to the formal merger, the park was further developed in the spirit of the cultural park movement of that time by including cultural and sports facilities. It is probably the first large plant in Germany, which was designed according to these aspects and thus exercised a role model effect.
This was on 8 January 1955, the groundbreaking ceremony, and already on May 1, 1955, the park was handed over its purpose, which in the sense of propaganda at the time as "fulfillment of the electoral mandate to the People's Chamber Paul Froehlich (1913-1970 / First Secretary of the SED District Leipzig), which this had received from Leipzig workers, was praised.
